Hello

We are the Macy family, hobby breeders near Seattle, Washington devoted to the breeding of exceptional Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Our Breeding Philosophy

Our Cavaliers are happy, affectionate little housedogs who will adapt readily to either the active lifestyle of families with children or the quieter lifestyle of stay-at-home seniors.

In order to maintain an intimate relationship with our dogs we choose to keep our numbers small. Consequently we will not always have puppies available, in which case we will gladly refer eager puppy seekers to other equally responsible, conscientious breeders.

All of our puppies are thoughtfully bred and lovingly raised. Our emphasis is to breed Cavaliers that represent the breed in type, beauty, temperament, conformation and health. It is important that these attributes be given high priority as the future of Cavaliers depends on responsible, informed breeding. Consequently, the puppies we sell as pets are of the very highest quality. We have been blessed with friends and mentors in the United States and abroad who have guided us, shared their experience and continue to teach us. We can never stop learning and improving.

We are  members of the local Cavaliers of Puget Sound Club, the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club USA, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Cub in the UK

We are delighted to share this wonderful breed with you, as we feel that Cavaliers are simply the best breed!

Nothing Compares to a Cavalier

Rhoyal Cavaliers was established by us (sisters Sharon and Rhonda) and our mother, Rhoda. Rhoyal has been a family effort since 1993. Guided by a continuing commitment to the breed, we have been actively showing in both the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, USA (CKCSC USA) club and American Kennel Club (AKC) since 1994.

Many years ago our family saw a Cavalier and fell in love. Though we've had dogs all our lives, nothing compares to a Cavalier. They are truly the most loving breed we have ever encountered. We decided that the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel would be our next dog and welcomed our first Cavalier, a Blenheim girl named Maggie, into our home. We loved her so much we decided one wasn’t enough, so we added second, a tri-colored boy we named Scout.  He was a gift to our mother Rhoda from our father. From then on we have been a Cavalier home.

During the next couple years, we watched and learned and enjoyed showing in the conformation ring. Sharon wanted to show and loved the black and tan color Cavaliers, so the search was on. We weren’t able to find the right one in the states, so we expanded our search to breeders in England. A year later, we succeeded in welcoming our third Cavalier, a black and tan puppy boy named Macy. With the arrival of Macy, we became very active in the show ring and have been successful, with several of our Cavaliers becoming Champions.

We are active with the regional Cavaliers of Puget Sound Club and have served on the board of directors for several terms. We are also members of the English Club, the AKC National Club and the CKCSC, USA Club.  Today we continue to show and breed puppies for both the show ring and for family companions.

We are located in the Pacific Northwest, just minutes from Seattle, Washington. We encourage you to visit and see our wonderful Cavaliers.

Our heartfelt thanks to Mick and Lil Shinnick of Leelyn Cavaliers and David and Wendy Taylor of Rosscrea Cavaliers. These English breeders have allowed us to share my home and life with their puppies. We would also like to thank Heidi and Greg Mohn of Covington Cavaliers for all their support and knowledge over the past years. They are truly good friends and great mentors.

What Is a Good Breeder?

A good breeder takes a LIFETIME interest in ALL the dogs they breed. The breeder wants to know how the dog is doing in its new home, they love getting calls and cards from you and are always there to advise you if a problem comes up.  If a medical condition crops up, they want to know.  If it is potentially hereditary, they can alter their breeding program and try to stop the problem in future generations. A good breeder is a mentor and best friend to all buyers and dogs they breed and a good breeder will sell with a spay/neuter contract or make sure the puppy is altered before placement

Raising Puppies in the Home

Our puppies are raised at home, around family and other dogs. Right after the puppies are born, we expose them to new sounds, textures, smells and different environments. As they become more active we start training and include things like tunnels and scaled down agility equipment to develop their motor skills. It's our goal to introduce the puppies to as many things as possible before they leave for their new homes at 12 weeks.

We have a responsibility to the dogs we breed for their entire life.  We look at the sale of a puppy as the beginning of a relationship, not the end. We will always be here to mentor you, inform you of products, help you with training, and offer you support when you need it.
